PetrolPulse partners with CampWatch to help Aussie travellers find the cheapest fuel on the road
Live fuel pricing and outage data now built into CampWatch's Trip Planner, showing the cheapest refuelling stops along any camping route across Australia.
Australia's road trips can cover thousands of kilometres through remote areas where fuel stations are sparse and prices vary wildly. Finding the cheapest fuel along your route has always meant guesswork, until now.
PetrolPulse has partnered with CampWatch, Australia's go-to platform for campsite reviews and trip planning, to bring live fuel pricing and outage data into their new Trip Planner.
How it works
CampWatch's Trip Planner lets you map out a camping trip, set your vehicle type and tank size, and get a full cost breakdown including fuel, campsite fees, and meals. Using PetrolPulse's live data, the planner now shows the cheapest refuelling stops along your route and flags stations that are currently out of stock, so you're never caught short in the middle of nowhere.
Why this matters for regional and remote travel
Fuel prices in regional Australia can be 30-40c/L higher than metro areas. For a family driving from Sydney to a campground in northern NSW, that difference can add $50-80 to the trip. Knowing where to fill up, and where to skip, makes a real difference. The integration also taps into PetrolPulse's fuel outage tracker, which monitors station-level stock across every state. For travellers heading through remote corridors where the next station might be 200km away, knowing which stations are dry before you leave is more than a convenience.
Built on open data
PetrolPulse aggregates pricing from government fuel reporting schemes across all Australian states and territories, updated as frequently as every 30 minutes. The partnership with CampWatch is the first external integration built on PetrolPulse's API, and we're open to working with other platforms that help Australian drivers save money on the road.
