Delete your PetrolPulse data

The short version

PetrolPulse has no accounts and no sign-up. The only thing we store on our servers that relates to you is an alert subscription, created only if you turn on price or fuel-outage notifications. Turning those notifications off deletes it immediately. If you have never enabled alerts, we hold nothing to delete.

How to delete it yourself (takes about 15 seconds)

1. Open the PetrolPulse app, or go to petrolpulse.com.au in your browser.
2. Open the Alerts page — the bell icon in the navigation, or the Alerts tab at the bottom of the app.
3. Tap "Unsubscribe from all alerts" at the bottom of the page and confirm.

That cancels the notification subscription in your browser or app and deletes the stored record from our database in the same step. You will see an "Unsubscribed" confirmation when it is done.

If you no longer have the device you subscribed on, or you would rather we did it, email mark@petrolpulse.com.au with the suburb or location label you set for your alerts. We will find the matching subscription and delete it, and confirm by reply. We aim to action requests within 7 days.

What gets deleted

The entire alert subscription record, which is:

• The push endpoint and encryption keys your browser or device issued us
• The coordinates and label of the location you chose for alerts
• Your alert radius and fuel type
• Which alert types you enabled, and the timestamps of when we last sent you one

This is deleted outright, with no retention period and no archived copy. We do not keep a backup of it, and it is not recoverable afterwards — if you want alerts again later, you subscribe again from scratch.

What is kept, and why

• Aggregate analytics and advertising data held by Google (Google Analytics 4 and Google AdSense). This is not linked to any identifier we hold, so we cannot connect it to you or to your deleted subscription, and therefore cannot delete it on request. It is retained and eventually expired under Google's own retention settings. You can opt out of personalised advertising at youronlinechoices.com.au, and clearing your browser data removes the cookies involved.
• Preferences stored on your own device — your last searched suburb and fuel type, kept in your browser's local storage. These never reach our servers. Clear your browser data for petrolpulse.com.au, or uninstall the app, and they are gone.
• Server request logs kept briefly by our hosting provider for security and performance, which may include an IP address. These are not linked to a subscription and expire on the provider's own schedule.
• The fuel price database itself — station locations and prices from state government feeds. This contains no user information at all.
